How to work out the grade you need
Quick answer: To work out the grade you need, enter your current grade, enter the final's weight and enter your target.
- Enter your current grade. Your percentage in the course so far.
- Enter the final's weight. For example 30% of the course grade.
- Enter your target. The overall grade you want, for example 90 for an A.
The formula
Needed = (target − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight. With 85% now, a final worth 30% and a 90% target, you need about 101.7%, so an A is out of reach and you'd aim for the next grade.
Frequently asked questions
What if it says over 100%?
The target can't be reached with the final alone. Ask about extra credit, or set a lower target.
