Rotate Video

Fix a video filmed sideways or upside down, or mirror a selfie clip, and save it so it plays the right way everywhere. It runs in your browser with FFmpeg, so your video is never uploaded. Free, no sign-up, no watermark.

How to rotate a video

Quick answer: To rotate a video, add your video, rotate or mirror and export.

  1. Add your video. The preview shows it as it is now.
  2. Rotate or mirror. Press Left or Right until it's upright; Mirror flips left-right, useful for front-camera clips.
  3. Export. The rotation is saved into the video itself, so it plays correctly in every app.

Why some videos play sideways

Phones often save a rotation flag instead of rotating the picture. Some players and websites ignore that flag. Exporting here rotates the actual frames, so the video is upright everywhere.

Private and free

Most online video tools upload your file, put it in a queue and add a watermark. Here FFmpeg, the engine used by professional video software, runs inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded, there's no watermark and no file-size fee. The engine (about 31 MB) downloads once and is then cached.

Frequently asked questions

Does rotating reduce quality?

The video is re-encoded at high quality; at the default setting the difference isn't visible.

Can I rotate and crop together?

Yes. The crop is set on the original frame, then the video is rotated, all in one export.
