To add a logo to a QR code, use High error correction, keep the logo to about 20–25% of the code's width, place it in the centre on a small white box, and test the code with a few phones before printing. The QR Code with Logo tool does all of this automatically and lets you download PNG or SVG.

Why does a QR code still work with a logo on top?

QR codes include error correction: extra data that lets a scanner rebuild missing parts. At the highest level (H), roughly 30% of the code can be damaged or covered and it still scans. A logo in the middle "damages" part of the pattern on purpose, so the bigger the logo, the more of that spare capacity it uses up.

That's why the tool switches to High error correction as soon as you add a logo, and warns you if you change it back.

  1. Open the QR Code with Logo tool.
  2. Type your link, or switch to Wi-Fi to share a network.
  3. Click Choose logo and pick an image. It's shrunk and kept in your browser, never uploaded.
  4. Adjust Logo size (12% to 30% of the code). Around 20–25% is a good balance.
  5. Optionally change the code colour and background.
  6. Scan the preview with your phone camera.
  7. Download PNG or SVG.

The logo sits on a small rounded box in the background colour, so the edges of the code stay clean.

What logo size is safe?

Logo size What to expect
12–18% Very safe, logo is small
20–25% Recommended balance
26–30% Risky: some phones may fail; test carefully

The tool warns you when the logo is over 25%. Long links make denser codes, which tolerate less covering, so use a short link if you want a bigger logo.

Which logo images work best?

  • Square images. Wide logos are fitted inside the square, so they end up small.
  • Transparent background. PNG or SVG with transparency looks cleanest.
  • Simple shapes. An icon or monogram reads better than a full logo with small text.
  • High contrast. Your logo doesn't need to match the code, but it shouldn't blend into it.

Colour rules for branded QR codes

Phones look for dark squares on a light background. Keep:

  • A dark code colour: black, navy, dark brand colours.
  • A light background: white or a very pale tint.
  • Strong contrast. The tool warns about low contrast and inverted (light-on-dark) codes, which many scanners can't read.

How do I test a QR code before printing?

  • Scan it with at least two phones (one iPhone, one Android) using the default camera app.
  • Test at the size you'll print, from the distance people will scan it.
  • Print one sample on the real paper or material; glossy surfaces and folds can cause problems.
  • Check the link opens the right page on mobile.

If it fails, make the logo smaller, shorten the link, or increase the print size.

PNG or SVG?

  • PNG: social media, websites, documents. Choose a large PNG size for good quality.
  • SVG: print shops and designers. It stays sharp at any size and can be placed in design software.

Frequently asked questions

Will a logo stop my QR code from working?

Not if it's small enough and the code uses High error correction, which lets phones rebuild up to about 30% of the pattern. Keep the logo around 20–25% of the code's width and always test before printing.

What logo file works best?

A square PNG or SVG with a transparent background and simple shapes. Detailed logos and thin text become unreadable at QR sizes.

Can I use coloured QR codes with a logo?

Yes, if the code stays dark on a light background with strong contrast. Light codes on dark backgrounds don't scan on many phones.

Does the QR code with logo expire?

No. It's a static code: the link is stored in the pattern itself, so it works for as long as your link works, with no account or tracking.
